Despite finishing second in the Western Conference in 2008, a promising season ended in disappointment for Chivas USA as the club lost in the first round of the playoffs. During a turbulent off -season, star player and club MVP Sacha Kljestan was linked with a move to Glasgow Celtic. However, Kljestan decided to return, as did talisman Ante Razov. With USMNT star Jonathan Bornstein, Alecko Eskandarian and former team golden boot winner Maykel Galindo on board, Chivas USA is gunning for the top spot in the West.
